The Fear Free Pets® mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety & stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them.
Catastic are proud to be Fear Free Certified. What does this mean?
What is Fear Free®?
Founded by “America’s Veterinarian,” Dr. Marty Becker, and developed by hundreds of experts in behaviour, medicine, and handling, Fear Free has become one of the single most transformative initiatives in the history of companion animal practice. The Fear Free programs and courses provide veterinary professionals, pet professionals, animal welfare communities, and pet owners with the knowledge and tools to look after both a pet’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
Is your cat scared of being brushed or having their nails clipped? Have you every tried to give them a bath and blow dry and seen them shaking and trembling or just trying to get away as quick as possible? Many cats don’t like having their paws touched and often are scared of the different tools being used or new environments and experiences; but sometimes they do need help with keeping their fur free from mats and their nails clipped (especially as they get older); and there’s a lot that owners and their groomer or other pet care professional can do to make those things more comfortable (and less stressful!) for them.
The Fear Free Groomer Certification Program teaches how to use Fear Free concepts to ensure that the grooming experience is as enjoyable as possible for every cat, every time. Whether it’s your cat’s first time to get groomed, or maybe they have already developed a fear due to a previous negative association, we (and you!) can help them. We want to teach you learn how to recognise the most subtle signals of stress in your cat, and equip you with the knowledge to not only identify when they are stressed, but help them feel better.
